Commission Grant CompetitionMaine AmeriCorps*State Grant Competition The Maine Commission for Community Service solicits proposals for AmeriCorps grants. AmeriCorps is a national service program, which engages Americans of all ages and backgrounds in team-based community service to meet critical needs in the areas of Public Safety, Education, Disaster Services, Environment, and Human Needs. Eligible applicants include: private or public non-profit organizations, state/local government, Native American Tribal governments, and institutions of higher education. Applications will be accepted in 3 categories: State Formula, Formula Education Award, and State Competitive. All are described in the Request for Proposal and application instructions. Grant funds support AmeriCorps members’ service and require local matches (combination of cash and in-kind). All proposals must be submitted electronically using the federal eGrants systems and copies of required attachments received for opening by the Division of Purchases no later than 2:00 p.m. EST on Friday, November 21, 2008. Hard copies are available by contacting: Maine Commission for Community Service, State Planning Office, 187 State Street, 38 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04333, telephone number 207-287-5649.
